Shine the Light
on Human Trafficking

Picture

This page is dedicated to raising awareness about the issue of human trafficking.

Human Trafficking can feel like a big, heavy and often overwhelming subject—one that can make individuals feel helpless. But you DO have the ability to make a difference in the fight against human trafficking.
About 40 million people around the world and 400,000 people in the U.S. are victims. It’s so prevalent that it is considered the fastest growing criminal industry in the world, generating more than $150 billion USD every year.

Waymakers, the organization my nephew T.J. is an advocate for, serves as the administrator of the
Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force and provides direct services to
victims of human trafficking in Orange County.

The first step in making a difference is to get educated about the topic of human, labor and sex trafficking.

$10.00

THANK YOU!

100% of each donation goes DIRECTLY to the victims of human sex trafficking.

SHINE THE LIGHT on human trafficking

If you are looking for ways to continue to help local victims of human trafficking, the list below gives you some ideas. Any donations can be left at Dragonfly Shops and Gardens - we also auction off many donated items, with the 100% of the proceeds going towards the survivors. Monetary donations can be made directly to Waymakers via https://waymakersoc.org/. or here, on this page.

Things to buy/donate for victims of human trafficking:

Gift cards for fast food in increments of $10, $15 or $20 - These are used as soon as a victim is picked up as they often haven’t eaten recently. Having a variety to choose from gives the victims control to choose where they would like to eat. Control - of anything in their life - that’s been taken away from them.

Local Take Out: In ‘N Out - Carl’s Jr. - Taco Bell - McDonalds - Jack in the Box - Chipotle - Subway

Burger King - Wendy’s - Starbucks - Etc.

Other gift cards in increments of $20 - $50 - Used for necessities. Amazon is used to send items directly to victims.

Target - Walmart - Amazon

Note - The reason shampoo, soap, etc. cannot have a hotel insignia is that the victim might have been trafficked at that hotel and it would be a trigger.

Backpacks for men: A small, medium or large backpack (gently used is ok!) to be filled with:

Sweat pants - medium or large - Sweatshirt - Underwear - Socks - Disposable razors + shaving cream

Small bars of soap, shampoo & conditioner - Deodorant - Toothbrush - Toothpaste - Sandals with no toe strap, size 9 or 10 - Comb - Pack of tissues - Small notebook and pen - Fidget spinner or playdough or deck of cards - tactile; something to do while waiting

Art Supplies - gives the victims something to do while waiting

Coloring book for adults & colored pencils, with a sharpener - in a large baggie - Journals or Notebooks with Pens
